I am originally from Puerto Rico. I lived half of my life there between the towns of Trujillo Alto and Bayamón. While living there I always enjoyed exploring my surroundings. Living in such a beautiful place, the nature around you always extends an invitation for you to enjoy it and to share those experiences with those close to you.
The great influencers of my life are my parents and grandparents. From them I learned the joy of appreciating and creating art in all of its forms, learning from history and expanding it to what is not learned from books, exploring and caring for nature and how to be inquisitive and curious about everything.
I graduated from college at the University of Puerto Rico, Bayamón. My Bachelor's Degree is in Materials Management, which eventually evolved into what is now called Supply Chain Management. At the time, it was still a new field made up of different roles and targeted to the manufacturing environment. Since the beginning, I was always passionate about the procurement role. There is just something about being at the center of the supply chain , being able to engage with different people at different levels and the need to be a creative problem solver that always called to me.
So far it has been a fulfilling career with lots of challenges, from which I've learned to hone my skills in project management, negotiation (with supplier and stakeholders), contracting, active listening and proactive engagement. These have been key to my success as a sourcing leader.
